SRINAGAR, Indian-controlled Kashmir -- A suicide car bomber rammed his vehicle into an Indian army truck, causing an explosion that killed four people -- three soldiers and one civilian, a police official said.

Fifteen people were also wounded in the Wednesday morning blast.

According to Javed Ahmed Mukhdoomi, inspector general of police, the attack took place around 9:30 a.m. (0400 GMT) in front of a Catholic boys' school.

There were no injuries at the school.

The bomb exploded on a leafy avenue in an area where senior government ministers and government officers -- including the state's chief justice -- reside.

The body of the attacker has not yet been found, but police believe the body was blown to pieces, according to an Associated Press report.

So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

About a dozen groups have been fighting for Kashmir's independence from India or its merger with neighboring Pakistan over the past 15 years, resulting in more than 65,000 deaths.

India accuses Pakistan of aiding and arming the militants at training camps on the Pakistani side of Kashmir -- a charge Islamabad strongly denies.

Both India and Pakistan claim the divided Himalayan region in its entirety and have fought two wars over it since the two nations split in 1947.
