The Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) meets in Brunei to consider an agenda largely focused on the regions' response to terrorism and closer cooperation with the United States.

The ten member states -- Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam -- will also seek to resolve the ongoing dispute over the Spratly islands and freedom of navigation in the South China Sea.
